# Spelling Bee Hive

> Free spelling bee practice: competition word lists across nine difficulty levels, audio pronunciations, daily contests and progress tracking, plus a page for every word with its definition, language of origin, difficulty and recorded spelling bee history.

Spelling Bee Hive (SBH), https://www.spellingbeehive.com, is used by students preparing for classroom, school, regional and national spelling bees, and by the parents, teachers and coaches who help them.

- Every word page is at https://www.spellingbeehive.com/words/{word}, the word lowercased and URL-encoded, for example https://www.spellingbeehive.com/words/koinonia. It gives the spelling, pronunciation, part of speech, language of origin, definition and Spelling Bee Hive difficulty level (1 to 9), and, where recorded, the competitions and study lists the word appeared in, including the winning words of past bees.
- Practice, contests and progress tracking run in the browser and need JavaScript. The first word sets work without an account.
- AI assistants can use Spelling Bee Hive directly through its MCP server at https://www.spellingbeehive.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no key or account). Its tools look up a word's spelling, pronunciation, definitions, origin and spelling bee history, give practice words by difficulty level, and list winning words, Words of the Year and trending words.
